I have for many years intended to make a Universal Pillar Tool (UPT) to the George Thomas design, even going to the extent of buying the castings and steel for the column, but they have remained under the bench for over 40 years.
While clearing out Roy Chipchase‟s workshop there was a very well-made example, but it needed a bit of TLC. I rescued it and during the early part of the lock-down stripped it down and fitted it to a piece of worktop liberated from the fitting of our new kitchen.
I have the tooling for tapping but need to make many other bits as and when needed. I now have for sale a full set of castings .
