For the first time in several years, a member of our club entered the competition. I am very pleased to say he achieved a silver medal. The pictures below show Ian Spencer with his V2 locomotive and Ian being presented with his certificate by SFMS Vice Chairman, Mike Crisp.
On the TSMEE stand this year we had our usual high standard of engineering on display. John Rowley's Fowler R3 road locomotive epitomises this.
Brian Nicholls 7 1/4" Koppel also gained many appreciative comments
As a Tyneside club we had an excellent shed of N.E. engines. Thanks to Sean Bowler for his LNER A3, Keith Pardy for his A4, Eddie Gibbons LNER K3 & GNR H4, Joe Gibbons GNR Stirling chassis and Gordon Bullard's GNR Atlantic 'Maisie'.
Jim Scott's 5" Earlswood also demonstrated excellent Tyneside engineering.
Two very different size locomotives for our garden railway are Michael Jordison's K1 Garratt & Peter Newby's De Winton
Peter Newby also exhibited a very useful finger clamp
Finally our Junior engineers have been making their own rolling stock for 'Lady Anne' to pull.
